Kate Nolan founded An Rince Mugain 4 years ago. Having children involved in ID it was a natural progression for her to go from making boys shirts and cumberbunds to altering and repairing dresses.  The next logical step was to making her own dresses and Kate hasn't looked back since.  Also, having her son competing at the level he does enables Kate to travel to all the majors and keep up with the ever changing styles and latest trends.  Being close to NYC is an added bonus as it provides Kate easy access to lots of fabrics.

Kate started sewing when she was a girl, starting with doll clothes and got her first sewing machine when she was 11 years old.  "When I think about it I realize I've had a needle in my hand for almost 40 years".   Scary thought!  An Rince Mugain is very special to Kate as it is a creative outlet.  Kate has developed not only her own patterns to create her dresses but has also developed her own style of design.  Kate really is self taught in all areas.  This year though she has added another seamstress to her staff who is quite talented.  Another seamstress coming on board has allowed Au Rince Mugain to open up more slots for those in need.

Kate was also instrumental in the creation of the Celtic Dreams International Irish Dance quilt project that saw many Irish dressmakers donating a square for a quilt that is to be built by Kate and later raffled to raise funds for children' charities.
Did you know that while over 200+ dresses have been made using the designs from Colleens' of Canberra very few donations have been received.  If you use this design please consider making a donation to help keep this website operational.
Many thanks to a very generous Kate Nolan of Long Island, New York for her donations to Colleens' of Canberra.
